STRAIGHT ANSWERS

What you are and aren't buying

What counts as a “site”?

One location we screen: a plant, a mill, a farm, a warehouse, or a named sourcing region. Owned sites are screened at a 10 km radius; sourcing regions at 50 km. Both count the same toward the site total.

What do you need from us?

For the pilot, a company name and one location. For a report, your latest annual or sustainability report — we extract the locations from it. If a site is named but not located precisely, the report says so and screens it at the wider radius rather than guessing.

Is this an assurance opinion or a field survey?

No. It is a screening-level desk analysis of public datasets. It tells you where to look and what to say about what is there; it does not replace ecological fieldwork at a site the screen flags, and it is not legal or assurance advice.

Whose data is it, and can we publish findings?

Protected Planet, GBIF, the IUCN Red List and BirdLife's KBA data, each attributed in the report in the form its licence requires. Commercial reports use only records licensed for commercial reuse; anything excluded is counted, not hidden.

Why is it so much cheaper than a consultancy?

Because the expensive part — locating sites in a long PDF, querying four datasets, applying a consistent rule to every result — is automated, and the judgement is written down as a rule rather than re-made by hand each time. What you pay for is a person checking the output before it reaches you.

How is a report priced?

By site count, quoted before we start. A single-site company is at the €2,000 floor; a company whose report names dozens of facilities and sourcing regions is priced toward the upper end, because every location is screened against licensed datasets. We confirm the site count with you first, so there are no surprises when a report turns out to mention more locations than you expected.
